Jon Chu, who directed the last two Step Up films, is in talks to take over directing the movie adaption of Matched, based upon the YA novel of the same name.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation 3D, Chu’s newest film comes out in March, which is why he supposedly is in need of a new project. He would be the second director approached, since earlier rumors had David Slade (30 Days of Night) attached to direct.
Disney’s adaptation of Ally Condie’s futuristic YA novel already boasts Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot as producers via their Offspring Entertainment shingle.
The project adapts Ally Condie‘s young adult novel that is set in a future where the government controls every aspect of people’s lives — from what they read, what to believe in, and who they should fall in love with. The story centers on a young woman who is set up with an arranged romance, which she turns down to forge her own path.
