The CW Throwing in the Towel on ‘The Selection’ (Boo on the CW!) »
We are sad to hear it, but it looks like The Selection is dead at the CW. This is so heartbreaking to fans, as if the CW is paying any attention, this series is on fire.
According to DEADLINE…
After two development cycles and two pilots, the CW is throwing in the towel on bringing Keira Cass’ book The Selection to the small screen. By all accounts, the second pilot, which was shot in Budapest, was an improvement over last year’s effort. But in the end I hear the finished product, while beautifully shot, was not compelling enough to get on the schedule.
We are saddened by this revelation, but will continue to support Kiera, as she is an amazing author.
The CW Picks Up More Shows – But Where is THE SELECTION? »
We don’t know what is going on with The Selection? We don’t know. But the CW is announcing shows that they have picked up, and so far ‘The Selection’ is not on that list.
According to DEADLINE…
Reign and Oxygen from CBS TV Studios also just got picked up, bringing the total number of new CW series for next season for five, including The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals. The only remaining question is whether The Selection, which never found its footing, is dead.
PREVIOUS: The CW also entered the pickup fray with series orders to drama pilots The Tomorrow People and The 100. Both have been frontrunners, coming from Warner Bros. TV. MORE

Yes! It’s title is THE ONE. Now I have a feeling it’s not so much about the one that Maxon picks, as it is about the one that America does!

Hmmm, Prince Maxon is going to have a brother? I am not going to lie, I am officially nervous about this pilot now.

Brit Ben Aldridge, repped by Anonymous and Hamilton/Hodell, rounds out the regular cast of the CW/WBTV pilot The Selection. He plays Prince Rafe, the younger brother of Prince Maxon (Michael Malarkey) who loves his country and takes his leadership role seriously — but he does have a secret.
@KieraCass Has A New Series! »
Love Kiera Cass and are super excited that she has a new series coming out. She posted on her TUMBLR…
Erica Sussman at HarperTeen has acquired a new series by Kiera Cass, author of The Selection. In the as-yet-untitled YA romance, which was pitched as Matched meets Never Let Me Go, children trained in academies to be perfect friends can be purchased by the wealthy as companions, and a forbidden romance ensues. Elana Roth of Red Tree Literary negotiated the two-book deal for world English rights.
We will be all over this! Can not wait. Who do we talk to for an ARC?
Bow Down: ‘The Selection’ Crowns its Queen »
The CW’s revamped pilot of Kiera Cass’ The Selection has crowned its queen. Louise Lombard, known for her roles on CSI and Stargate Universe, has joined the project in the role of Queen Amberly.
The Selection, written by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain and directed by Alex Graves, is an epic romance centering on America Singer (Yael Grobglas), a working class young woman chosen by lottery to participate in a competition with 25 other women for the Royal Prince’s hand to become the nation’s next queen. Lombard will play the current queen, Queen Amberly. Refined, intelligent and beloved by the people, Queen Amberly is a canny political player within the palace, and knows everything there is to know about every single girl in The Selection competition. The role was played by Leonor Varela in the original pilot last year. Lombard, by Paradigm and Affirmative Entertainment, was recently seen in BBC film Dripping In Chocolate.
