Now I have made no secret that I love books. I am an avid reader (like I read 43 books last month). When the final book in the Shatter Me Trilogy came out, I was scared to read it. I dreaded reading it. Is it because I thought it would be bad? No. It’s because I was so scared of who Juliette was going to chose. Warner or Adam…
Guys, I don’t care what people say – book boyfriends are important. And I have been Team Warner since day 1. I mean he’s the bad guy, but he’s always had that broken spirit just in need of getting his heart put back together. He’s been this amazing guy who just wants to be loved.
Okay, I am totally not against Adam. I mean he’s great. But to me he’s always been this stage 5 clinger. I know, I know – he’s all soldier person and loves her and yada yada. He’s a good guy – saving his brother and protecting him. Loves Juliette. Etc.
But no one is Warner.
The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, called “a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love.”
With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn’t know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.
The Shatter Me series is perfect for fans who crave action-packed young adult novels with tantalizing romance like Divergent by Veronica Roth, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and Legend by Marie Lu. Tahereh Mafi has created a captivating and original story that combines the best of dystopian and paranormal, and was praised by Publishers Weekly as “a gripping read from an author who’s not afraid to take risks.” Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and satisfying end.
Now it kills me that I can’t tell you who she chooses and why it’s perfect, but I know that some of you know and some just don’t agree.
Here’s the three reasons why I think IGNITE ME is a book that you must pick up.
1) The book reminds you – you never truly know anyone else’s story, so you should always give them the benefit of the doubt. Guys from book one the pieces have been coming into play, but the pieces have been telling us things that we may not have heard. Yet, in Ignite Me you suddenly start to get everything. So the people you thought you hated, the people that you thought you didn’t understand – all your feelings start to change and you suddenly know that you haven’t really known a persons story. So hate or love doesn’t describe all the feelings. Everything is re-examined.
2) Drama. I mean there is a lot of drama, but it’s good drama. It’s people figuring out who they are.
3) Love. So many times, we don’t get to see a great love story, but now we do. The great thing about The Shatter Me trilogy is that who Juliette falls for is an evolution. It’s finding what she loves in herself, but also what she loves in others. Finding love is a hard thing, but I love that Tahereh shows us that to find true love, you have to love yourself first. And Juliette definitely knows that.
4) You can’t figure out the ending. It’s not predictable. You are on this journey with Juliette and you are trying to figure out what choice she is going to make. But when she does, you can understand and applaud that the first choice that she made is herself.
Ignite Me is a non-stop ride, that makes you feel. That’s the sign of a great book. Tahereh Mafi crafts a beautiful ending to an amazing series. This book will take you on a rollercoaster of emotion, leaving you with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.
And Fox – if you are listening – you need to get on making this movie. (just saying)
