Beauty and the Beast ended season 1 with Vincent (Jay Ryan) being abducted by Muirfield. Season 2 picks up three months later, and things — namely Vincent — have clearly changed. As Catherine (Kristin Kreuk) soon learns, Vincent is basically a completely different person. With his memory wiped, and probably having been brainwashed while held captive, he has become much more animal-like and vicious, but worst of all, he has no memory of her or the relationship they shared.
At New York Comic Con, the stars were happy to talk about the changes in season 2. Jay is most excited about the new direction in which the show is headed, and Kristin agrees. “I think our show has a different feel this year,” she said. “It feels more intense. It’s more unpredictable. The pace has gone up. The action is better.”
Jay attributes part of that new feeling to shooting on location in New York. “The atmosphere of New York has put more into the show this season,” he said. “We actually come here once a month to shoot several scenes that get weaved into the show.” (Of course, shooting in New York means that more tourists get in the way, but then, tourists always get in the way!)
While I would prefer that he was still on ‘The Lying Game’ and that TV show was still on – I will tell you that I am excited that he is on another show. The actors has joined the new season of ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
Also guesting on Season 2 of the CW drama is The Lying Game’s Blair Redford. He will play Zach, a long-lost Army buddy of Vincent’s (Jay Ryan) who turns out to be a terrifying opponent and a dangerous threat.
Obsessed with Beauty and The Beast like we are? I know, I know! Excited for it to return too.
E Online posted this new poster – what do you think?
“Oh, it’s a really intense episode. The show’s pace is going up this season, so a lot is happening,” Kreuk previewed. “We’re three months ahead; three months has passed since the finale, so they’re getting filled in on a lot of what happened during that time.”
With Beauty and the Beast veering away from the procedural element in favor of heavier mythology, Ryan teased, “The fans are almost going to be one or two steps ahead for each character, so they’re going to know what’s behind the door. It’s going to have this thriller, nail-biting tension to it.”
I am excited that Beauty and the Beast is veering away from procedural and heading towards the mythology of the world they have created.
It returns October 7th.
